VAMAA Essendon

Congratulations on the team of Kickboxers that fought under VAMAA kickboxing rules on the first VAMAA show for the year.

We had some wins and some losses but everyone learnt from the experience and we can work on the lessons to get ready for the next one.

Ali started the night as fight no.1 and won easily getting multiple standing 8 counts against his opponent. His hard hitting style was great but the way he stuck to the game plan with basics really impressed his coaches. Great job.

Hussein followed a few  fights later against a taller older opponent but was unable to find a way to control the fight. Tough fight Hussein but guess who showed up for training the very next morning. I think the next fight will see you better prepared.

Kerem was the last of our Juniors for the night and again had a reach disadvantage that he couldn’t overcome. He fought very well but lost on decision. He’ll be back for the next one .

Cory fought and won his 3rd VAMAA and looked even better this time around. Unanimous win.

Mo started his fight poorly catching hard hits straight to the nose in the opening minute. With blood gushing he held on through the round trying to claw his way back into the fight. the second and third round however saw the fight turn into Mo’s favour as he worked his opponent out. By the end of the 3rd he looked totally comfortable firing shots at will for the win. Fight of the night.

Tommy jumped in despite injury causing a poor preparation and fought to the end against a fighter with 6 fights under his belt and an obvious technical advantage. Toughing it out to the end of time certainly earned all our respect.

Thanks to PA, Paul and Neil for getting the fighters ready. Great job . Lets do it again soon.
